Installment loans in Prince Edward Island

Borrow $300 to $3,000 and repay it in equal amounts on your paydays, over three to four months. Applications with bad credit can still be approved.

The Loans514 team reviewed this page on November 5, 2026. We took the rules from official federal and provincial sources, listed at the bottom. All dollar amounts are examples, for illustration only.

In short

Islanders with poor credit can still apply. Loans514 sends one application to lenders in our network, which typically lend $300 to $3,000 over 90 to 120 days at 22% to 32% APR. PEI's Consumer Protection Act requires the cost to be shown as an annual percentage rate, and lenders can't charge you for paying early. A payday loan in PEI can cost $14 per $100: $70 on $500, all due on one payday.

How applying works in Prince Edward Island

  1. Send one application. Use a phone or computer, anywhere in Prince Edward Island. It takes around five minutes.
  2. A lender gets in touch. Your application goes to lenders in our network. If one can help, it contacts you and asks you to connect your bank through Instant Banking Verification. That's a read-only view of your recent transactions, so you don't send documents.
  3. Read the offer. You see the rate, each fee and your total repayment before you agree to anything.
  4. Get paid. The lender deposits the money after you sign, often on the same day.

Loans514 doesn't lend money. Your rate, fees and payment dates are set by the lender that approves you.

PEI's rules for installment loans

There's no separate licence for high-cost installment lenders in PEI, unlike BC and Manitoba. Your rights on an installment loan come from the Consumer Protection Act:

  • You must get a separate statement from the lender. It shows your cost of borrowing as an annual percentage rate.
  • There's no fee or penalty for paying the loan off before it's due.

Every installment loan also falls under the federal 35% APR cap, and fees count toward it.

Payday loans in PEI

  • PEI's payday rules cover loans of $1,500 or less, for 62 days or less. The cost is capped at $14 per $100 advanced.
  • You can cancel within two business days. You don't have to say why.
  • A payday loan can't be extended. Once you repay one, a lender must wait seven days before lending you another.
  • You can repay the whole balance whenever you like, with no penalty. A lender can't take an assignment of your wages.
  • If a lender breaks certain rules, you only repay what you borrowed, not the cost of borrowing. You can ask for illegal charges back within a year.
  • Every payday lender needs a licence. Each agreement must warn you that a payday loan may cost much more than other ways to borrow.

Who can apply

  • Age 18 or older, and a Canadian citizen
  • A full-time job, or steady income from self-employment
  • An online bank account that can be verified
  • Not in a bankruptcy or consumer proposal

Your income and recent banking matter most to lenders, so a low score on its own won't rule you out. Apply from Charlottetown, Summerside, Stratford, Cornwall, Montague, Kensington and Souris, or from anywhere else in Prince Edward Island. An application doesn't commit you to anything. You agree to a loan only when you sign a lender's contract.
